• Beautiful Japanese men and women (especially Ryoko Hirosue)
• Peasant hero-bandit as redistributor of wealth
• Luxurious period (yet modern) Oriental architecture and costumes
  

While the story of Goemon is commonly played in Kabuki performances, there are quite a few versions of this legend. The film spun yet another version. Rather gripping storyline... I thought the fight scenes were too long, but I'm sure action fans will love them.

If you really need a comparison, it's much much better than say... 风云II.
