Up in the Air

I avoided to watch this film twice. I thought it's a romantic comedy like Did You Hear About The Morgans? or The Ugly Truth.

I was pleasantly surprised by today's default option. Up in the Air is kind of slick, but a romantic comedy it is not. I especially like the bit where the love interest compartmentalises her life.

Coincidentally, I just discovered (via facebook) that a long lost uni classmate of mine got married in 4Q09. And just a couple of months into her married life, she was wondering aloud on facebook about the meaning of a 'normal' life, i.e. study, get a job, get married, buy home, have kids, grow old etc. I don't think my friend is being flippant. I think she's being honest. An issue explored in this film without a 'solid' answer which we are used to.

Not a film you should watch if you are looking for super lovey dovey, coz love ain't what it seems.
